At Blue360, data safety is a shared responsibility between our agency and our clients. While we take precautions to secure and back up data for active projects, clients also play a key role in maintaining their own backups. This article explains what Blue360 covers, what clients must handle, and the limits of our liability regarding data loss.
Blue360 Backup Responsibilities
- Maintain regular backups for websites enrolled in an active Blue360 maintenance plan
- Take project backups at key milestones such as development handover or final delivery
- Keep internal copies of deliverables during the 14-day review period
- Assist clients with restoration if a backup created by Blue360 is available
- Follow industry-standard practices for secure storage and controlled access
Client Backup Responsibilities
- Maintain independent backups of websites, databases, and critical business data
- Download and store copies of final deliverables provided by Blue360 after project completion
- Ensure hosting providers offer automated backups if not covered by a Blue360 plan
- Keep license keys, purchased assets, and third-party plugin files safely archived
- Do not rely solely on Blue360 for long-term data retention
Limitations of Blue360 Liability
- Blue360 is not responsible for data loss caused by hosting failures, malware, or client-side errors
- Backups maintained by Blue360 are provided as a support measure, not a guarantee of complete data recovery
- If a client does not purchase a maintenance plan, long-term backups are the client’s sole responsibility
- Third-party platform failures (such as hosting providers, cloud storage, or plugins) are outside Blue360’s control
Best Practices for Clients
- Set up automated daily backups through hosting or third-party services
- Download a local copy of backups at least once a month
- Secure backups with strong passwords and restricted access
- Test backups periodically to confirm they can be restored
- Inform Blue360 immediately if you need help with a backup restoration
FAQs
Q: Does Blue360 keep my website backups forever?
No. Blue360 only keeps backups during active projects or under maintenance plans. Long-term storage is the client’s responsibility.
Q: What if my hosting provider fails and I lose data?
Clients must ensure their hosting provider includes backup services. Blue360 cannot be liable for third-party hosting failures.
Q: Can Blue360 restore my website if it crashes?
If a valid backup exists within our retention period, we will assist. Otherwise, clients must provide their own backup files.
Q: Is backup included in every Blue360 project?
No. Backup services are included only in specific maintenance packages. Clients without such plans must handle backups independently.
Q: Should I still keep my own backups if I am on a Blue360 maintenance plan?
Yes. We strongly recommend clients keep independent backups in addition to any provided by Blue360.
